Mr. Towne,

You were brought to my attention through Facebook, and I am a supporter of your platform to restore the constitution and sound money. I plan to tell others about your campaign, but I have a question for you.

What are your thoughts on the 9/11 Truth movement? I am a member of this movement, and we seek an independent, objective investigation into the events of September 11th. We were created by members of the victims’ families, who were snubbed when the 9/11 Commission left over 70% of their questions unanswered.

We currently have 719 architectural and engineering professionals who question the official story and maintain it does not conform to the basic laws of physics (www.ae911truth.org).

Additionally, we have numerous firefighters (www.firefightersfor911truth.org), pilots (www.pilotsfor911truth.org), military officials (www.patriotsquestion911.com), political leaders (www.pl911truth.com), veterans (www.v911t.org), religious leaders (www.rl911truth.org), medical professionals (www.mp911truth.org), lawyers (www.l911t.com) and scholars (www.stj911.com) who express doubt over the findings of the 9/11 Commission Report.

In 2009, a paper was published in The Open Chemical Physics Journal, a peer-reviewed scientific journal, by a team of independent scientists, including Dr. Steven Jones of Brigham Young University and Dr. Niels H. Harrit of the University of Copenhagen. In this paper, four samples of WTC dust from Ground Zero were examined. The dust contained high-tech, explosive thermitic material. You can read the paper (www.bentham-open.org/pages/content.php?TOCPJ/2009/00000002/00000001/7TOCPJ.SGM), which has also been published in the Journal of 9/11 Studies (www.journalof911studies.com).

For further information, if you have time, I recommend viewing the 90 minute documentary 9/11 Mysteries, which can be viewed for free on Google Video:

If you do not have time for the documentary, please at least skim The Top 40 Reasons to Doubt the Official Story of 9/11 (www.911truth.org/article.php?story=20041221155307646) or browse (www.911truth.org).

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you,

He responded:

Dear Christopher –
Thank you for your question.

"What are your thoughts on the 9/11 Truth movement?"

I support the 1st amendment and believe there is nothing wrong with the movement’s peaceful questioning. Dissent must not only be tolerated but even encouraged if we are to have a free and open society.

If I were elected to Congress and either a constituent or group of constituents had concerns, I would obviously listen closely. I’ve read the 9/11 Commission Report in its entirety, and while I believe UBL is most likely the culprit, it is a matter of record that he did not claim responsibility for the 9/11 attack, but he HAD claimed responsibility for the USS Cole and other attacks. I also remain mystified as to why FBI.gov’s Most Wanted poster for UBL does not list the 9/11 attack specifically since this indicates a lack of evidence.

As a nation of laws, I believe the proper action is to issue a letter of marque for all those Al Qaeda members who we have evidence for believing were involved, and letters of reprisal are the proper, constitutional action for any future attacks. I would encourage you to read the platform found on the FB Campaign page if you have further questions on this.

That said, I believe the 9/11 report is a poor piece of "government work" – for example the complete omission of the collapse of WTC 7 and explaining a lot of the discrepancies pointed out by many individuals. In hindsight, the speed of the Bush administration in starting the study – >1 year if my memory is correct – is a disservice to the country and those that died.

I’ve watched Loose Change and 911 Mysteries documentaries previously, read quite a bit of evidence both for the government’s story and against. I have an open mind on the matter, but as I am not a demolitions expert, I can’t offer an informed opinion. I would hope that the movement you wrote of has tried to arrange a peaceful and courteous debate with the other side.

In my line of work as a chemical engineer for the past 8 years, I am fairly knowledgeable with SEM and EDX analysis. I would like to remark that in any good paper, the scientist should always run a control sample — in the paper you referenced – which I skimmed through – I did not see thermite/ate samples run as a control for comparison. I am surprised a journal would publish it as this is a basic for any scientific inquiry.

With all of the time and labor spent on the 9/11 issue, it’s a wonder that a live experiment has not been run on another building.

Thanks again for your note.

In liberty,
Jake
